My Amazing Father

As a small child I remember closing my eyes tight at bedtime prayers and asking God to just let me grow up with both parents. I don't know why, but I must have thought that being an adult would afford me a wife, a family, a strong group of friends, a career. All the things I thought I would need to help me deal with loosing a parent. Now looking at turning 50 years old I realize I have all this and so much more but I will NEVER have ALL the things I need to be able to cope with such a loss.
My father sits today in Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital after being in Brookwood Hospital for nearly two weeks. He has always been the strong man type of guy. Born on a tobacco farm in South Carolina  he learned how hard work would allow for a comfortable life. He wanted to be his own boss, responsable for sucesses and failures. He married, fathered five sons and provided leadership for our family. Everything I ever needed. Everything I have now I have because of the lessons I learned from him.
Now today I realize I will cherish every drop of life, every moment, every blessing the good lord deems I deserve.
Thanks Dad, I love you!

Lee Harrelson Photographs Birmingham, Alabama.
After nearly 30 years in the photography business I am enjoying the creative process more each day. Starting with my first camera at the young age of 12 I have seen things, been places and met the most interesting people because of the art that became a lifestyle for me.
I started in a small closet B&W darkroom, now I just created my first blog page. Wow what a journey!
