Karen and I had Bates a couple of weekends ago while Kristen and Bryan went to New Orleans. So we decided to play "Grandparents" and take the little tike to the zoo.
He really likes the the monkeys and he got to touch a camel on the nose.
He is growing fast and putting his first words together, he looks at something, looks at me shrugs his shoulders and asks  diss? And everything as far as he is concerned is the color geen.
He is pretty cool!!

New Promotion Ready for Mailing

As a freelance photographer I am always looking at simple and beautiful things to photograph.
My current promotion campaign is a series of printed folding cards showing simple food items shot in natural light. I am trying to utilize 13x19 in sheet stock which makes it possible to design a variety different formats for different looks. Some promos will be 4 single images that tie together. Or like this first one using the full length of 19 inches while remaining only 5 inches tall.
I think this makes an impressive piece, starting with a visual question and giving a "reveal" when the piece is opened, ending with contact information.

My Amazing Father

As a small child I remember closing my eyes tight at bedtime prayers and asking God to just let me grow up with both parents. I don't know why, but I must have thought that being an adult would afford me a wife, a family, a strong group of friends, a career. All the things I thought I would need to help me deal with loosing a parent. Now looking at turning 50 years old I realize I have all this and so much more but I will NEVER have ALL the things I need to be able to cope with such a loss.
My father sits today in Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital after being in Brookwood Hospital for nearly two weeks. He has always been the strong man type of guy. Born on a tobacco farm in South Carolina  he learned how hard work would allow for a comfortable life. He wanted to be his own boss, responsable for sucesses and failures. He married, fathered five sons and provided leadership for our family. Everything I ever needed. Everything I have now I have because of the lessons I learned from him.
Now today I realize I will cherish every drop of life, every moment, every blessing the good lord deems I deserve.
Thanks Dad, I love you!

Lee Harrelson Photographs Birmingham, Alabama.
After nearly 30 years in the photography business I am enjoying the creative process more each day. Starting with my first camera at the young age of 12 I have seen things, been places and met the most interesting people because of the art that became a lifestyle for me.
I started in a small closet B&W darkroom, now I just created my first blog page. Wow what a journey!
